We want to hear your thoughts on the SEND IAS Service in South Glos. Please be a part of this discussion.

The Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Information, Advice, and Support Service (SEND IASS) in South Glos is being re-tendered, which means South Glos Council may choose a new organisation to provide it. At the moment this service is being provided by Send and You

The SEND IASS helps children, young people, and parents with advice on education, health, and social care. They offer:

  • Face-to-face meetings

  • Support via the telephone

  • Email support

  • Website and social media

Their website has:

  • Information on SEND topics

  • Links to helpful groups

  • Info about the Local Offer

SEND IASS also:

  • Helps families speak up about issues like exclusion and complaints

  • Supports them during SEND Tribunal appeals

  • Offer training to schools, health professionals, and families on SEND rights.

The budget for this service won’t change much, so while new support likely can’t be added, we want to hear from families about what support is most helpful to them. This will help ensure the service is planned in a way that best meets the needs of local families.

As the service is being used across Bristol, North Somerset and South Glos (BNSSG), the Parent Carer Forums of these areas are coming together on the evening of 1st May to hold an online Listening Event to gather feedback from our parent carers about the SENDIAS Service in their areas.
